heART in the Garden is celebrating our 10th annual art, craft and design weekend this year. As part of the celebrations we are collaborating with The Finery Fair and we will once again be featuring the deliciously fresh hand crafted food from Mess & Co. Social Club. When local artist Johan Alberts exhibited his works in an up market gallery - where the markup was so exorbitant that it was just too expensive for the average person to afford - he decided to make art more accessible to the people and also give other artists a platform to sell their work, and so heART in the garden came into being. After the first major success in 2006, heART in the garden became an annual event, turning Johan’s home into a creative, novel space where carefully selected art, crafts, furniture and lifestyle items are sold to the public, giving folks the opportunity to celebrate and enjoy the finer things in life, while also catching up with old and new friends in heART’s peaceful garden setting. This event is free and open to all - the perfect opportunity to spend a summer day with your loved ones, do some Christmas shopping and discover some of the prominent artist and creative personalities that Gauteng has to offer. Over 70 artists and designers will be participating this year. The Finery Fair will exhibit their bespoke market on the lawn while playing music from old-school vinyls. The food from Mess&Co will delight your senses at their ‘Stoep Cafeteria’ offering scrumptious fresh, hand crafted cuisine made on order - Mediterranean fair such as your choice of a wide variety of mezze, flamed grilled lamb, salmon and Lebanese style chicken on artisan breads and wraps. While quiche, savoury tarts and a few surprise menu items will cater for all tastes and cravings. Liquid refreshments by way of jam-jars with Pimms and Lemonade and Ice Tea or something from the grape and the grain will also be available. Even though some vendors do offer card facilities, we kindly ask that you bring cash along to avoid having to dash to the ATM.
